The Senior Manager reports to an Assistant Director within the Innovation and Technology Transfer(ITT) Division. He/she is responsible for overseeing the transfer of university-developed technologies to the commercial sector. This role involves negotiating and securing terms of research collaboration and licensing agreements, managing the evaluation, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property (IP) generated by academic staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance operational efficiency of research collaboration and licensing processes and resolve operational hurdles.
  • Negotiate and execute research collaboration, licensing agreements, material transfer agreements, and other related contracts.
  • Manage and support the protection, disclosure, and commercialization of Intellectual Property (IP), including assessing commercial potential, recommending IP protection measures, negotiating licenses, and reporting on the societal and economic impact of the IP.
  • Explore ways to maximize industry adoption of the university’s IP assets arising from research and innovation outputs.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to match industry and public agency needs with the university’s IP generated from research and innovation.
  • Collaborate with university administration, academic staff, and external stakeholders to promote technology transfer activities.
  • Provide training and support to academic staff on IP and commercialization processes.
  • Execute events and activities to promote industry adoption of university’s IP portfolio

Job requirement:

  • A good tertiary qualification in one or more of the following domains: engineering, healthcare (especially allied health), infocomm technology, food or biotechnology.
  • At least 8 years of direct experience in technology transfer, IP management and/or related fields;
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating research collaboration and technology licensing agreements;
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment;
  • Possess strong analytical skills with an eye-for-details;
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
