Research Fellow/Engineer (RGB camera and LiDAR) - LX

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to conduct applied research in the topic of robust AI for autonomous driving perception. Detailed research tasks include physical-space adversarial example attacks, applying redundancy and diversity of deep neural networks to harden object detection and semantic segmentation, as well as maintaining the real-time performance of the hardened AI computing on embedded GPUs (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin). RGB camera and LiDAR will be the main sensing modalities to be studied.

Senior Manager, Lab Safety

At SIT's Professional Officers Division (POD), we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into the workplace to create a conducive environment where applied learning and innovation take place. Reporting to the Team Lead of Lab Safety, the incumbent will support the Division in maintaining an operationally safe and healthy environment for all lab users. POD currently manages 108 teaching laboratories. The incumbent will support the development of the Lab Safety culture within POD and amongst lab users, there is need to establish an effective Lab Safety & Health Management system. The additional manpower aims to support the Division in developing and implementing standards beyond regulatory compliances.

The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT.

Successful candidates will join the Infocomm Technology (ICT) Cluster (one of five domain clusters in SIT), as members of a team of accomplished experts who are passionate about higher education and deeply involved with industry transformation through their applied research programmes. Faculty in the ICT Cluster undertake funded industry-relevant research, teach courses in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security and Software Engineering as well as supervise graduate industry masters and doctorate students in relevant topics. They are also provided with paid leave to undertake consultancy work with industry and/or spend time attached to work with industry.
