The Senior/IT Consultant (Academic Applications) will be responsible for managing academic systems, projects, vendors and application developers in the Academic Applications team of Communications and Information Technology (CIT) division.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage academic applications such as Learning Management System (LMS), Timetabling System, Resource Booking System (RBS) and some teaching and learning tools
- Work closely with other divisions in new academic initiatives, projects and system evaluations
- Manage developers and vendors to ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Ensure developers and vendors perform works compliant to IT policy and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs)
- Prepare technical specifications for tenders and projects
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Perform risk assessments to minimize risks for change requests
- Plan and manage budgets and resources for projects
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Establish and maintain good relationships with stakeholders and vendors
- Carry out any other ad-hoc projects as assigned
Requirements
- Degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent from a recognized university
- At least 8 years of relevant working experience in similar area and with at least 3 years of project management experience
- Prior experience and understanding of education industry in the domain of teaching and learning is preferred
- Good project management skills (PMP / PRINCE II or equivalent certification is a plus)
- Proven technical background with understanding or hands-on experience in application development using Microsoft technologies (.NET, ASP.NET MVC, C#, SQL)
- Prior experience in managing Learning Management System (LMS) (e.g. Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Moodle or Canvas) would be an advantage
- Outstanding analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Proactive and independent in managing potential issues
- Able to interact with various stakeholders in all levels and with different backgrounds
- Able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
