The Database Administrator (DBA) reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of SIT’s applications. This is a ‘hands-on’ position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The duties of the successful applicant will include:

  • Ensure the SQL Server databases’ operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, patching and hardening, to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security
  • Administer Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) solution and to follow up on abnormal activities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database issues in real time independently
  • Ensure that the database assets and systems are managed in accordance with the security policies and standards
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues and document changes
  • Assist developers with complex SQL query tuning, DB Script review and schema refinement
  • Perform PeopleCode and .Net Codes migration to Production
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Responsible for the upkeep of database related policy, architecture and design schema
  • Assist and advise in database related activities and operational audits


  • A good Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or its equivalent
  • 3-5 years of MS SQL Server Administration experience required
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restore and recovery models
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus.

  • A team player with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
