Responsibilities

  • Ensures access to archival collections by compiling finding aids, creating collection-level records or metadata descriptions, creating finding aids or controlled vocabularies to assist online researchers, and maintaining a database on collections and storage space allocation.
  • Manages the digital collection by establishing ingestion procedure, the metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, and exercising quality control of the software, equipment and metadata records.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of archive projects and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in the field of information studies, archival science or library and information science, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in handling and processing digital archival collections or in data management, including experience in creating metadata descriptions, digitisation, care of born-digital materials, governance and security
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal command of English
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and collaborative skills with supervisory experience
  • Resourceful and creative with experience in outreach activities
  • Good listening and interpretative skills with the ability to develop knowledge of, respect for and skills to engage with people of different backgrounds and ethnicity
