As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

As part of the 5G Trans Lab, the primary responsibility of this role is to investigate, analyse, and enhance performance of end-to-end connectivity through the open core 5G testbed using SDN/NFV, support the development, testing and validation of 5G use cases and applications, in collaboration with industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
  • Design, optimization and test the Open core 5G network to ensure the end-to-end performance metrics in the KPIs are met for different RAN.
  • Develop North-bound APIs for dynamic network orchestration and test overall network performance for diversified use-cases
  • Validate the network functionalities, protocol compliance using SDN/NFV and troubleshoot to ensure end-to-end network connectivity.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • Have relevant competence in IP planning with open network switch configuration.
  • Experience in network configuration and maintenance on Linux-based ISP devices.
  • Knowledge in SDN/NFV technologies and writing REST APIs for north-bound communication will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge in virtualization technologies (Hypervisor, VMware NSx) will be an advantage.
  • Have a relevant degree in Communication Networks or equivalent. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Python, Java and R will be advantageous.
