Research Fellow/Engineer (Smoke Ventilation) AH3

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project, where you will be part of the research team. Under this job title, you will numerically simulate a smoke cabin designed for different numbers of smokers under different ventilation strategies. A parametric study on the exhaust opening design and its rate of ventilation will be performed to obtain the optimal location for the placement of the air filtration system and its sizing. To mimic the Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) generation, smoke particles will be simulated using the discrete phase model (DPM) along with the ventilated air flow. The concentration field, the trajectory, and the residence time of the smoke particles under different ventilation strategies will be analyzed.

By introducing the exhaust and water jet to form an air-water curtain to control the contamination area. The air-water curtain shall be evaluated by the air barrier formed at certain distance away from the targeted area.
