The Counsellor (Manager) is responsible for coordinating, managing and executing key student development initiatives for the Counselling Service at Office of SITzen Experience. The Manager will be tasked with daily operations of the Counselling Service, which includes case management (especially of more complex cases), programme development and execution, stakeholder management and mentoring of junior/newer counsellors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Clinical Role

  • Provide counselling and crisis intervention support to SIT students including those with complex issues. 
  • Ensure accurate and detailed case notes and file management for counselling clients. 
  • Provide clinical inputs, on case conceptualisation and interventions for complex cases or high-risk cases. 
  • Serve as the escalation point for crisis and high-risk situations, ensuring sensitive, timely, and effective responses.

 

Operational Role

  • Supervise the management of case records ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and completeness. 
  • Support the team by ensuring that clinical services are accessible to students in a timely manner (e.g. Individual counselling, 24-Hr helpline, faculty consultations, referral to the panel of specialist) 
  • Oversee the submission of counselling data / reports in a timely manner (e.g. MOE reports, ITQ submissions) 
  • Support the team to manage the SIT Counselling email inbox, assigning cases to team members.
  • Mentor junior/newer counsellors in managing more complex cases. 

 

Centre Role

  • Support the Head Counsellor in the operations of the counselling team to ensure effective service delivery, adherence to standards, and responsiveness to stakeholders 
  • Establish professional relationships and support network with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student support. 
  • Contribute to the strategic planning, process review and innovation of the counselling team’s services and direction. 
  • Develop and implement wellness preventive programmes. 
  • Support key initiatives and events at the divisional level to contribute to broader institutional goals

 

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Build networks with external partners, mental health organisations, and community groups to broaden support opportunities for students.
  • Develop and deliver student wellness programmes as assigned by the Wellness Team Leader.
  • Contribute to division‑wide initiatives as assigned by the Wellness Team Leader.
  • Contribute and assist in the strategic planning and review of the division’s work plans, resource allocation and team development.
  • Keeps up to date with the latest training practices, trends and technology.
  • Helps students understand and build meaningful relationships with multiple partners within the community.
  • Mentors students, developing their potential and creating opportunities to encourage personal development.
  • Build student relationships, by developing their potential and talent.
  • Carry out administrative functions which include procurement of collaterals and budget management.
  • Ad doc projects as assigned by the Head of Division.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Masters degree from a good University with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position in an educational/community/corporate environment.
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, to connect with students, and bridge students with staff.
  • Passionate, positive attitude with the ability to be innovative and think out of the box.
  • Adaptable, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines.
  • Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve division mission.
  • Strong organizational and coordinating capabilities with excellent administrative skills
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of office hours and on weekends on occasion.
