The Technical Officer is responsible for laboratory operation and laboratory maintenance; ensuring laboratories are in conducive condition to conduct laboratory classes.
Job Responsibilities:
Cadaveric Dissection & Anatomical Laboratory Expertise
- Conducts specialised dissection to produce high-quality educational specimens (8 Bodies Dissected every year)
- Performs embalming, preservation & inventory management to ensure long-term specimen integrity
- Provides in-lab technical support to faculty & students (structure identification, technique guidance)
- Assists with procurement & chain-of-custody documentation meeting legal/ethical standards
- Supports applied research use-cases requiring advanced anatomic preparation or domain expertise
Lab Operations & Process Improvements
- Execute actions and measures to ensure the readiness of the laboratory to support students and other users in collaboration with fellow colleagues.
- Responsible for the daily housekeeping and maintenance to ensure safety, cleanliness and tidiness of laboratories.
- Manage the users’ loans and monitor availability of laboratory inventory and consumables.
- Manage the process of providing support to students and other lab users’ access to laboratory resources.
- Monitor and collect data of laboratory utilization.
- Responsible for the tracking and maintaining of laboratory documentation (e.g. equipment manual, risk assessment, Material Safety Data Sheet, service reports and other safety certificates).
- Responsible for developing and managing inventory system to ensure availability of consumables in the lab
- Involved in conducting lab demonstration sessions and mentoring/coaching students and other lab users.
- Involved in lab demonstration sessions and mentoring/coaching students.
- Assist to design and develop the laboratory continuously to ensure industry relevance and co-create an authentic learning environment for students’ learning and applied research endeavors.
- Support POD laboratory initiatives relating to Teaching & Innovation Workgroup for improvements in laboratory efficiency and effectiveness of teaching, learning and capability development.
Lab Maintenance & Asset Maintenance
- Manage and be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment in the laboratory, including the frequency and cost/budget of maintenance, as well as general budgeting for the lab, incl. general planning for materials for support of teaching and project support.
- Manage and be responsible for asset management and ensure all assets are accounted for.
Lab Procurement
Manage the procurement for laboratory equipment and consumables to ensure readiness of the laboratory for teaching.
Lab Safety
- Ensure and be responsible for a safe laboratory environment in compliance with safety regulations and standards by working with POD Lab Safety Team
- To de-conflict risks arising from different laboratory users through assessing the approved user risk assessments and making necessary alternative arrangements for users.
- Develop training materials in compliance with the requirements of the lab and ensure training and briefing of lab users
People Management
- Manage and develop the Student Lab Committee in:

- Equipment Maintenance
- Safety Advocates & Awareness
- Lab Tour Ambassadors
- Oversight of all student initiatives
Job Requirement:
- Minimally possess a Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or Healthcare related, or equivalent.
- Possess at least 5 years of working experience, with 2 years conducting dissection and/or prossection and/or autopsy work demonstrating knowledge in human anatomy.
- Possess at least 1 year of experience in patient/customer/public relation service.
- Possess hand-on experience in procurement (e.g., direct purchasing, ITQ or Tender) and vendor management.
- Experienced working with regulatory bodies (e.g., NEA, HAS,e etc.) and possessing knowledge in MTERA, HOTA or Body Donation Program would be highly advantageous.
- Advanced anatomical knowledge & dissection proficiency
- Competence in embalming & preservation protocols
- Regulatory literacy (legal, ethical, biosafety governance)
- Stakeholder-facing communication with emotional resilience
- Ability to support teaching, research & lab operations in a regulated environment
