About the Role
SITLEARN is the lifelong learning division of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore's first University of Applied Learning. We focus on providing lifelong learning opportunities for working adults to upgrade their skills and knowledge for the workplace.
We are seeking a proactive and technically capable Data Engineer to support our Insights team in building, maintaining, and optimising our data infrastructure. As part of a small but dynamic team, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and usability of data that drives critical business decisions across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure & System Integration
- Build a unified data infrastructure that integrates historical data from the existing system with data from the new system
- Design and maintain robust ETL pipelines to support seamless data migration and ongoing data flows
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across integrated datasets
- Organize and structure data in a format that supports downstream analysis and reporting needs
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data workflows and processing systems
- Develop and maintain data quality monitoring and validation processes
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into models, datasets, or dashboards
- Work closely with the relevant teams in SITLEARN to support analytical projects and reporting requirements
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders
Documentation & Best Practices
- Document data processes, pipeline logic, and system changes for knowledge sharing and maintainability
- Follow industry best practices in data engineering and advocate for continuous improvement in data handling practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in a data engineering or similar role
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Proficient in data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Talend, or similar) and scripting languages (e.g., Python)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience or familiarity with Salesforce data structures and API integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable being an individual contributor and managing deliverables independently
- Collaborative, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality
