This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on applied research projects in partnership with a local SME, contributing to innovative solutions in food and chemical engineering. This is a fixed term contract position.
Job Responsibilities
- Support research and development activities in waste recycling, pyrolysis reactor, in the area of chemical engineering, thermal systems, and mechanical engineering.
- Conduct design and improvement of the existing pyrolysis system,
- Perform experiments, data analysis, and technical reporting.
- Collaborate with academic staff, industry partners, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all research activities.
- T'o communicate with any relevant stakeholders to ensure project can be completed.
- Any other ad-hoc duties assigned.
Expected qualities:
- Serve as the process lead engineer in both design, engineering and testing of Pyrolysis Reactor Systems
- Involve in developing the process control narrative
- To generate project specifications, design philosophy, PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, operation manuals to comply with clients’ requirement
- To carry out process simulations and develop heat and material balances
- To carry out hydraulic design for pumps, compressors, blowers and develop respective process datasheets
- To check design outputs, datasheets and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness to design requirements and concepts
- Involve in sizing the process instrument, pump and control philosophy
- Experience in downstream gas cleaning processes with real experiences operating a plant
- Knowledge in tar/PAH removal and separation
- Prepare and deliver various engineering related presentations, both internally and externally
- Support the R&D Team
- Knowledge in skid module base and PLCs programming will be highly preferred
- Possess good Solid-works skillset and/or ASPEN HYSYS/3D simulations expertise
- Sound knowledge in applying AI into system applications
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Thermal, Mechanical, Environmental or related disciplines).
- Work experience in similar industries.
- Prior experience in waste recycling, pyrolysis, production of activated carbon, heat transfer, process design, process control would be an advantage.
