As an Assistant Director in the Office of the Provost, you will play a key leadership role in driving institution-level academic planning, policy development, and strategic initiatives across the Academic Group. You will oversee and deliver cross-functional workstreams, influence decision-making at senior levels, and ensure that academic strategies, governance frameworks, and partnerships are effectively aligned and executed. One aspect of the role includes leading and managing strategic partnerships with Overseas Universities, ensuring that collaborations are aligned with SIT’s academic priorities, effectively governed, and operationally sustainable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive the development and implementation of key academic strategies and institution-level initiatives, including major transformation efforts and cross-cutting priorities.
- Oversee the review, development and implementation of academic and administrative policies, processes and governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage SIT’s Overseas University partnerships, including collaboration reviews, renewals, new agreements and, where required, restructuring or discontinuation, ensuring alignment with SIT’s academic strategy and governance requirements.
- Drive academic planning and coordination across the Academic Group, including alignment of programme portfolios, partnerships, and resource considerations.
- Provide strategic oversight of programme-related activities, including programme development and reviews, quality assurance, market analysis, and coordination across Clusters and internal/external stakeholders.
- Lead and/or oversee secretariat functions for key academic and strategic committees ensuring high-quality papers, effective facilitation and follow-through of decisions.
- Lead cross-functional stakeholder engagement and coordination, including facilitating senior-level discussions with academic leaders and overseas partners on collaboration structures, issues and future directions.
- Oversee institutional reporting and submissions, including papers to senior management, Board-level committees and external agencies (e.g. MOE), ensuring clarity, rigour and alignment with institutional positioning.
- Drive improvements in processes, systems and governance across the Academic Group, enhancing efficiency, consistency and integration across policy, planning and partnerships domains.
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members, and undertake additional strategic projects as required to support the Provost’s Office’s priorities.
Requirements:
- Recognised university degree.
- 10 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in higher education, public sector, or related policy environments.
- Experience in higher education administration, partnerships management, academic governance or policy roles, with exposure to international or cross-institutional collaborations preferred. Strong understanding of Singapore’s higher education landscape and academic governance frameworks will be an advantage.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate institutional priorities into actionable plans.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior management and external partners effectively in complex environments.
- Ability to review, develop and manage collaboration agreements, policy frameworks, and governance processes.
- Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes under tight timelines, with a high degree of ownership, initiative and resilience.
