The Assistant Manager, Performing Arts, OSE is responsible for coordinating, managing, and executing key student development initiatives in SIT. The Assistant Manager will be tasked with daily operations of the division, including project management, student development, partnership management and facilities and instrument management. The position contributes to creating a vibrant student life, building upon the division’s 6 core pillars: Campus Connection, Campus Life, Leadership, Wellness, SITizen Services, and Alumni. These pillars exist to create a holistic educational environment to enrich and empower students and alumni (also called “SITizens”), develop their leadership skills and create opportunities to strengthen the SITizen community. 

The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Team Lead in Performing Arts, OSE. 


Key Responsibilities: 

Student Development – Student Group Management

  • Manage 8 to 12 Arts clubs.
    • Mentor and develop student leaders as Staff Advisor to 8 to 12 clubs and committees under performing arts and recreational arts groups assigned to you, through coaching and advising in areas of team management, event/project management, time management and monitoring overall wellbeing of student leaders throughout their service term. 
    • Manage 2-4 experienced student leaders under the Vanguards Programme who will be attached to each Staff Advisor in guiding junior/fresh student leaders of student organisations under their charge. 
    • Review and evaluate clubs and committees’ workplan, proposals, budget, administrative and logistic matters.
  • Review, develop and coordinate existing and new programmes/events and processes, ensuring optimal student engagement, experience, and learning.
  • Oversee and support administration of all student-led events, productions or performances, including event proposal preparation and approval, procurement, event setup coordination, ensuring adherence to relevant internal policies, guidelines and budget limits.
  • Facilitate and support students’ participation in competitions and performances. 

 

Stakeholder engagement

  • Collaborate closely with instructors to enhance students’ learning experiences and support their participation in co-curricular activities for holistic development
  • Partner with relevant divisions (e.g., Finance, Estates) to support event execution and student development initiatives. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders to create meaningful opportunities for students to develop their talents and skills.
  • Coordinate and manage performance requests in close collaboration with internal divisions and external partners.

Event management

  • Plan and execute major events such as SIT Arts Festival, SITizens Awards Night, campus vibrancy programming to support holistic development and identity building.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and guidelines during Division and student activities, events and programmes. 
  • Coordinate and support internal and external performance requests and provide on-site support on event day. 

 

Facilities/Instrument management

 

  • Manage the upgrading and maintenance of arts facilities and instruments, as well as oversee facility bookings through the resource booking system.
  • Manage the procurement of instruments and equipment (ITQ or SVP). 

 

Support ad hoc projects and working committees as assigned by the Team Lead and the OSE management team. 

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Degree from a good University with at least 2 years of experience in a similar position in an educational/ community/ leadership/ corporate environment. 
  • Degree/Diploma in Arts related field would be an advantage. 
  • Previous experience working in local Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) would be an advantage. 
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to connect with and bridge students with staff. 
  • Creative thinking, adaptability and the ability to problem-solve with strong conflict management skills. 
  • Good planning and organisation skills, with an eye for detail. 
  • Passionate, positive attitude, multitasking, and able to work independently within tight timelines. 
  • Committed team player, responsible, reliable, and able to go beyond and work with others to achieve the division’s mission. 
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of office hours and on weekends.
