About the Position

SIT invites applications for one (1) faculty position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Appointment rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, professional standing, experience, and achievements in academia, industry, research, and leadership.

We seek individuals with expertise in financial accounting and corporate reporting, particularly in emerging areas such as sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, financial instruments, and consolidation accounting. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to high-quality teaching, applied research, industry engagement, and academic leadership, while supporting the University's mission of delivering industry-relevant and practice-oriented education.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Teaching and Learning

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and teaching in one or more of the following areas, including:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Advanced Financial Reporting
  • Sustainability and ESG Reporting
  • Carbon Accounting and Carbon Disclosure
  • Financial Instruments Accounting
  • Corporate Reporting
  • Consolidation Accounting and Group Financial Statements
  • Accounting Standards and Regulatory Reporting

The candidate should be able to deliver engaging and industry-relevant learning experiences that integrate contemporary accounting practices, emerging reporting requirements, and real-world applications.

  1. Research and Scholarly Activities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Undertake and lead research, scholarly, and/or applied research activities in areas relevant to accounting and corporate reporting.
  • Develop translatable research collaborations with industry, government agencies, and professional bodies.
  • Secure competitive research funding, industry projects, consultancy engagements, or translational research opportunities where appropriate.
  • Disseminate research outcomes through academic publications, industry reports, conferences, professional forums, teaching and thought leadership activities.

Candidates with prior experience in applied research, industry-funded projects, consultancy work, or real-world implementation projects are particularly encouraged to apply.

  1. Industry Engagement

The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to industry engagement through:

  • Building partnerships with organisations and professional bodies.
  • Supporting work-integrated learning initiatives and student industry projects.
  • Developing executive education, continuing professional development, and consultancy activities.
  • Contributing to the advancement of accounting and sustainability reporting practices within industry.

 

Requirements

  1. Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • A postgraduate qualification (Master's degree and/or PhD) in Accounting, Sustainability,  or a related discipline from a reputable university is desirable.
  • Candidates who possess extensive and distinguished industry experience, professional expertise, and a strong record of achievements in relevant domains may also be considered, even if they do not possess a doctoral qualification.

Professional qualifications such as CA Singapore, CPA Australia, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent will be advantageous.

  1. Teaching Expertise

Candidates should demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Carbon Accounting
  • Sustainability and ESG Reporting
  • Financial Instruments Accounting
  • Consolidation Accounting
  • Financial Reporting and Accounting Standards
  • Corporate Reporting

Experience in curriculum development and the delivery of industry-relevant accounting education will be highly regarded.

  1. Industry Experience

Candidates should ideally possess at least three years of relevant industry experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial reporting and corporate accounting
  • Sustainability reporting and ESG disclosures
  • Carbon accounting and climate-related reporting
  • Financial instruments and treasury accounting
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance

Substantial industry leadership experience will be particularly valued for appointments at the Associate Professor and Professor levels.
