Manager, Research Governance and Resource Planning

The role exists to strengthen and manage the governance and systems that underpin SIT’s applied research ecosystem, enabling researchers to deliver impactful, industry-relevant innovation with integrity and excellence.

 

Job Responsibilities

Laboratory Space Management and Optimisation

  • Oversee the administration of applied research laboratories, including space allocation, utilization tracking, access governance and infrastructure coordination.
  • Develop and implement governance processes that streamline operations and optimise efficiency of lab facilities.
  • Troubleshoot systemic or cross-divisional issues to resolve bottlenecks.

 

Governance and Compliance

  • Secretariat support for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
  • Coordinate protocol reviews, committee meetings, and compliance tracking in line with national regulatory requirements.

 

Research Staff Matters

  • Manage selected administrative processes for research staff, including onboarding and training, in coordination with HR.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Support additional duties or projects as necessitated by organisational priorities and work exigencies

 

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in research administration, laboratory operations or research management
  • Strong technical background with demonstrated understanding of applied research workflows and laboratory operations
  • Familiarity with research governance frameworks and regulatory requirements (e.g., IACUC, IBC, IRB)
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders 
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to present ideas clearly and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Works effectively with diverse teams, building partnerships and aligning stakeholders towards shared goals.
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills and resilience in navigating ambiguity.
  • Adaptable and resourceful, with a high level of autonomy in delivering outcomes.
