Job Purpose

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

 

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop a method for production of bio-degradable Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs).

It is a up to 1 year project in collaboration with Aeris Dynamics Pte Ltd. Upon successful development Aeris Dynamic will be seeking to license the technology from SIT and Research Engineer (RE) will have an opportunity to join them as a permanent staff. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
  • Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
    1. Sourcing and procurement of the relevant equipment and materials
    2. Mechanical design of the necessary tooling
    3. System assembly
    4. Testing
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Interact closely with Industry collaborator
  • Any other ad-hoc duties assigned.
  • The employee is to communicate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure work can be completed.

 

Job Requirements

  • Have relevant competence in areas like mechanical design, thermal testing equipment,
  • Have a degree in Engineering or Physics. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics will be advantageous
