As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and conduct wet chemistry experiments and functional mRNA tests, changing parameters according to the requirements of the established Design of Experiments 
2. Detailed and careful experimentalist, able to capture critical details 
3. Conduct individual projects with minimal supervision and drive to completion 
4. Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met 
5. Show strong initiative and take ownership of research work for publication. 
6. Document, publish and present research findings to project stakeholders 
7. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. 
8. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers 

The candidate is to liaise and communicate with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met and to perform any other adhoc duties assigned by Supervisor.


Requirements (Expertise, Qualification and Experience): 
1. Synthetic chemistry/biology (2-3 years experience in wet chemistry labs is ideal, experience in organic synthetic methods, inorganic or synthetic biology, formulations) 
2. Pharmaceutical/Bio engineering (calculations, design of experiment, handling of mRNA) 
3. Have a degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering or closely related disciplines. Possessing a PhD degree will be advantageous. 
4. Analytical chemistry (experience with chromatographic methods, particularly LC and hyphenated methods would be advantageous) 
5. Strong experimentation skills and theoretical knowledge in chemistry, pharmaceutical/bio engineering 
6. Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) 
7. Able to work independently as well as maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university 
8. Show strong initiative and sense of responsibility 
9. Proficient in technical writing and presentation 
10. Possess a high degree of self-motivation and curiosity in technical pursuits, with the ability to develop original ideas
