Job Purpose
As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to develop applied research capabilities that are relevant to industry and workforce needs while working on research projects in SIT.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the design, implementation, analysis and translation of a multi-institutional applied research programme that will develop and validate a Digital Adult Learning Quality Index and benchmark the quality, impact and value of digital continuing education and training courses.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the day-to-day scientific and operational delivery of the project with the Principal Investigator, ensuring that milestones, deliverables, timelines and quality standards are met.
• Lead co-design activities, including stakeholder workshops, literature and framework synthesis, item generation and refinement, Delphi rounds and pilot testing of the instrument.
• Design and implement the pilot and multi-provider field studies involving approximately 1,000 adult learners across live-online, self-paced and hybrid CET courses, including study protocols, sampling plans, measurement schedules and data-quality procedures.
• Lead psychometric and statistical analyses, such as reliability and validity assessment, factor analyses and multilevel/moderation analyses,
• Develop and refine research instruments and workflows, such as surveys and telephone interviews
• Coordinate with CET providers, academic collaborators, enterprise representatives and vendors; manage meetings, documentation, action tracking, ethics/data-sharing requirements and cross-institutional data delivery.
• Supervise and mentor the Research Engineer/Research Assistant and student assistants; allocate work, monitor progress and provide training in research protocols, participant management, data handling and reproducible analysis.
• Lead the preparation of progress reports, manuscripts, conference presentations and policy-ready outputs
• Maintain complete and reproducible research records; ensure compliance with IRB, PDPA, data-management, information-security and Work, Safety and Health requirements; and coordinate relevant procurement and vendor liaison.
Job Requirements
• PhD in psychology, education, learning sciences, behavioural or social sciences, psychometrics, statistics/data science, human-computer interaction, public policy or a closely related discipline; or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree with at least eight years of relevant research or industry experience.
• Strong training and practical experience in quantitative research methods, survey development, psychometric validation and applied programme or learning evaluation.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis using R, Python, SPSS, Stata, Mplus or equivalent software; experience with reproducible workflows and data visualisation is expected.
• Demonstrated ability to design and manage complex studies involving multiple stakeholders, sites, data sources and longitudinal follow-up.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, with evidence of high-quality research reports, publications and/or presentations.
• Experience in adult learning/CET, digital learning, learning analytics or mixed-methods research, and familiarity with LMS/telemetry or cost-effectiveness analysis, will be advantageous.
