The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is seeking an Educational Developer with experience and passion in competency-based education. The successful candidate will partner faculty members and subject matter experts to design, implement and evaluate industry-relevant, competency-based curricula for SIT’s educational offerings across both pre-employment and continuing education settings. The successful candidate will have skills in job-skills analysis, competency-based pedagogical design, and training and facilitation. The candidate should also have a keen interest in how jobs and learning would evolve with AI, as well as be skilled in using AI to enhance his/her productivity in the roles above. This is an important role towards achieving the University’s goal of helping the workforce stay future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Market Research:
- Perform skills and knowledge gap analysis, scanning a given sector for emerging trends and skills requirements.
- Job Skills Analysis:
- Engage end-users (individuals, enterprises) to understand their skills needs.
- Identify key competencies and job activities for various job roles.
- Synthesize and validate core competencies for target job roles.
- Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with faculty members and subject matter experts to design competency-based curricula.
- Ensure curricula is industry-relevant and aligned with skills frameworks.
- Develop learner-centric applied learning activities to ensure practical, job-relevant training.
- Skills Assessments:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and implement competency-based assessments to measure learner competencies.
- Utilize assessment results to refine curricula and address specific skills gaps.
- Training Delivery:
- Facilitate training for faculty members and subject matter experts on competency-based curricula development.
- Build the internal team's capability in job-skills analysis.
Job Requirements
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in skills analysis, instructional design, or curriculum development.
- Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a new area.
- Strong familiarity with skills taxonomy and skill descriptors.
- Proven ability to conduct job skills analysis and market research.
- Expertise in curriculum development and instructional design.
- Experience with competency-based education approaches.
- Experience in designing curriculum based on job activity mapping.
- Ability to design and implement skills assessments in collaboration with subject-matter experts.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and experience in designing effective training programs.
