A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various AI enablement programmes in SIT, manage the AI related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead AI projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects.

Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate extraction and fractionation of mung bean/rice/spent barley for improved functionality, generate process data for future life-cycle assessment and techno-economic analyses to understand the extraction processes’ impact on sustainability.

The researcher will be part of the team of the NAMIC Project for 3DP Modular Floater. The Research Engineer will play a critical role in the development, validation, and optimization of 3D-printed modular floating structures. This includes conducting hydrodynamic analysis, finite element modeling, and stability assessments, as well as overseeing site-based test bedding, data collection, and reporting. The role also involves designing and validating connectors for the modular system to ensure mechanical integrity and adaptability.

Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT.

The RaPID Centre aims to guide businesses in their innovation and value creation activities through rapid product development and sample production while the SPICE Centre aims to support local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in their technology-driven transformation, innovation and talent development initiatives. These Innovation Centres house a dedicated pool of Professional Officers who come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. As SIT’s lifelong learning champion, SITLEARN offers stackable and standalone Continuous Education and Training (CET) courses to working adults of all ages who are keen to upskill or reskill to gain new skills and knowledge that can be applied in their current workplace, or into a new industry that they aspire to transit towards. Our existing Training Management System (TMS) manages learners' registration of CET courses. As we expand our CET offerings, we aim to further digitise/automate our operations and enhance our system.
