Research Fellow/Engineer (Project Executive) LBG

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. FoodPlant is a shared facility for small batch food production at the Food Hub @ Senoko. The facility aims to accelerate the commercialisation of new products in the industry by allowing food manufacturers, especially start-ups and SMEs, to test the commercial viability of products after conceptualisation before making the leap to full-scale production. We are looking for a motivated individual to join SIT and support the shared facility as the Project Executive. The incumbent shall be supporting the project engagement with food manufacturers and production activities at the shared facility. In addition, he/she shall also be contributing to upskilling the industry through supporting training courses. The incumbent will report to the CEO who has overall responsibility for the facility.

Research Engineer/Fellow (Autonomous Spacecraft Formation Flying) - GR

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop integrated control algorithms for autonomous cubesatellite formation flying. The controllers that will be developed during this project will differ from previous work on this topic by merging guidance laws never applied before to spacecraft formation flying while embedding collision avoidance capacities into a single control strategy. In general terms, the proposed control approaches will force the dynamical performance of one or several followers, with respect to a leader, to asymptotically track a time-varying nominal trajectory, while the threat of collisions between formation members is eliminated by means of repelling accelerations generated by a collision avoidance scheme. The controllers will also be designed to account for and mitigate the orbital perturbation effects due to J2 and atmospheric drag. To critically evaluate and validate the design of the controllers, test cases based on the physical and orbital features of existing or planned cubesatellite formation flying missions will be implemented, while also increasing the number of elements in the formation when considering scenarios such as reconfigurations and position switching in low-Earth elliptical reference orbits. The final stage of this project will further validate the work done by embedding the control algorithms into an orbital control system which is integrated with a cubesat propulsion system. Currently there are no OCS integrated with a propulsion system that can natively perform autonomous orbital operations.

The device will consist of an efficient positioning and verticality control system deploying micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology or other alternatives and will aim to automate the construction process. The controls will be based on PC or tablets for easy implementation on site. The project will also develop kingposts using high performance steel (HPS) sections to reduce the structural weight and improve productivity further. These will be developed by other team members.

Under this job title, you will develop an algorithm to optimize the waterside of chiller plants, maintaining the differential temperature of chilled water supply and return temperatures within the design conditions (5-7 ℃). The algorithm development also includes the airside, and you will be closely working with our industry partner. You will also be tasked to manage the project and carry out the experiments to verify the energy savings potentials of the developed algorithm.
