Research Fellow/Engineer (Smoke Ventilation) AH3

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project, where you will be part of the research team. Under this job title, you will numerically simulate a smoke cabin designed for different numbers of smokers under different ventilation strategies. A parametric study on the exhaust opening design and its rate of ventilation will be performed to obtain the optimal location for the placement of the air filtration system and its sizing. To mimic the Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) generation, smoke particles will be simulated using the discrete phase model (DPM) along with the ventilated air flow. The concentration field, the trajectory, and the residence time of the smoke particles under different ventilation strategies will be analyzed.

The facility aims to accelerate the commercialisation of new products in the industry by allowing food manufacturers, especially start-ups and SMEs, to test the commercial viability of products after conceptualisation before making the leap to full-scale production. We are looking for a motivated individual to join SIT and support the SPF as the Technical officer. The incumbent shall be responsible for the technical support in the facility including operating and maintaining steam boilers and air compressor and report to the Centre Head who has overall responsibility for the SPF.

Senior Research Fellow, Programme Lead (InnoHub)

Innovation Hub (“InnoHub”) aims to support companies including SMEs, Start-ups, Innovators and its industry-partners in leveraging on the partnership with the network of Centre of Innovations (COIs) at the Polytechnics and Technology Innovation Centres (TICs) at SIT. He/she is to provide leadership to lead InnoHub and to grow the partnership with COIs to drive innovation, creation, adoption and revolution in the industry through practical transformation. Inculcating the innovation culture in SIT and the COI partners we work by adopting a collaboration model to carried out innovation projects by faculty, students and industry.
