Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and manage the research projects with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
  • Key responsibilities in the first year includes:
    i. Select user interfaces and communication devices (joysticks, control knobs, wireless extenders, HD and 4K displays) for projects.
    ii. Design the CAN interface circuits for motor controllers, control knobs and joystick.
    iii. Develop firmware to drive the motor controllers, control knobs, joystick.
    iv. Select suitable 4K and observation cameras for projects.
    v. Modify camera algorithms & software to meet project requirements.
    vi. Specify and procure the optical interface between 4K cameras and slit-lamp microscope.
    vii. Liaise with contractors and suppliers to fabricate the designs.
    viii. Integrate, test and improve the fabricated systems.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of project equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor/Master/PhD Degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering. Possessing a Master or PhD degree will be advantageous.
  • Have relevant experience and competence in Electronics design and Firmware development.
  • Have knowledge of CAN bus, Motor Control, and Digital Imaging.
  • Experience working with optical systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Network Programming will be advantageous.
