Reporting to Deputy Director, Advancement & Alumni, the position is responsible for overseeing key "knowledge management" functions to advance the University’s fundraising and alumni engagement goals.

This role is responsible for the development, accuracy and comprehensiveness of fundraising and alumni databases, as well as systems, tools, and applications to help drive fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives.

The Assistant Director, Advancement & Alumni Operations will ensure the integrity of fundraising and alumni information and determine how to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising and alumni engagement strategies and measures of success. He / She will develop work processes, anticipating and meeting users' needs.  

This position will also lead the gift processing and acknowledgement process, as well as assist Director, Advancement & Alumni, in managing the Division’s budgets and help oversee procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • The AD will lead an operations team and ensure that all team members have a solid understanding of fundraising and alumni engagement strategies as well as information systems.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of systems and effective new applications to help drive fundraising and alumni engagement strategies.
  • Ensure the accuracy, confidentiality and efficiency of fundraising and Alumni databases under SIT’s Personal Data Protection and Privacy Policy, and in compliance with best practices.
  • Be responsible for producing reports that can see and tell stories hidden in data, analyse trends in data and translating them into actionable information.
  • Collaborate across divisions to ensure the efficient flow of information through the moves management cycle and the alumni engagement cycle
  • Oversee gift processing and acknowledgement and help generate accurate and concise donor stewardship reports
  • Assist Director in managing Advancement and Alumni budgets and procurement processes, in compliance with sound financial management policies
  • Support other areas of Advancement and Alumni work as needed.

Job Requirements

  • University Degree in management information systems, finance or accounting, or an equivalent combination in education. An IT background will be a plus. At least 10 years of experience in advancement services, and /or a combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including ability to analyze and interpret data and statistical models.
  • Ability to design reports from databases and develop new applications; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Superior report writing skills; strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Track record in leading a team, excellent interpersonal and rapport building skills; ability to work both as a team-member and leader among multiple stakeholders.
